Description:
The Opinaca property is located in the Opinaca reservoir, in the central portion of the NTS sheet 33C/09, approximately 320 kilometres north of the town of Matagami in the James Bay area, northern Quebec. Access to the region is provided by an all-weather gravel road, extending 60 km to the northeast, from kilometre marker 395 on the James Bay paved highway to the Opinaca Reservoir and Hydro-Québec’s “La Sarcelle” dam, where a final distance of 32 kilometres by boat leads to the property. Direct access to the claim area can by facilitate by helicopter from several points along the gravel road. This Beaufield Resources Inc. 100% owned property consists of 191 map-designated claims totalling 9,998.24 hectares (100 km²). The property is situated in the Superior province, within the Lower Eastmain Greenstone Belt, near the northern contact between the La Grande and the Opinaca Sub-Provinces. The different lithologies found on the property include volcanics, mostly matabasalt with minor intermediate to felsic tuffs, sediments (conglomerates and graywackes with slivers of siltstones and mudstone) and intermediate (diorite) to felsic (pegmatite and tonalite) intrusive rocks covering 5% of the North Block and 90% of the South Block.
Most of the anomalous gold values obtained from the Opinaca property were from The Vortex Zone discovered in 2005. The alteration zone, which is characterized by a tourmalinized and amphibolitized basalt, mineralized in arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite, can be followed over 2 kilometres. This mineralized basalt is similar in mineralization (pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite) and in alteration (tourmalinization) to the Goldcorp’s Eleonore gold discovery (East Roberto).
The Opinaca property is located in the James Bay Area, Quebec and forms part of the western boundary with “Les Mines Opinaca Ltée.” Éléonore gold project, a wholly owned subsidiary of Goldcorp Inc., where, As of December 31, 2009, the deposit contained 3.15 million ounces of measured and indicated gold resources at an average grade of 11.92 grams per tonne and 6.25million ounces of inferred gold resources at an average grade of 12.93 grams per tonne.
